Ms. Annette Wells McBride Oswald, 80, peacefully left this world on July 20, 2020 after a long illness. Born February 6, 1940, she was a twin daughter of Mr. John Sterling Wells and Mrs. Alia Muskrat Wells. Ms. Annette graduated Aubrey High School in 1959 and later married Mr. John William “Johnny” McBride in 1961. They resided in Marianna and raised three children. Ms. Annette was a registered tribal member of the Cherokee Nation – based in Oklahoma, an artist, loved history, crafting, music and will fondly be remembered as the family storyteller. Ms. Annette retired from the Lee County School District where she worked as a teacher’s aide and secretary for over fifteen years. In later years, she married Mr. Pete Oswald Ms. Annette will not only be remembered as a great storyteller, but also as a painter. She made gourds into beautiful Indian Pottery and completed several oil/acrylic paintings. She is preceded in death by her husband, John William “Johnny” McBride; four sisters: Sterlene Oswald, Elizabeth Wells, Jannette Jaco, Peggy Smith; and one great-grandchild Bentley. She is also preceded in death by her second husband, Pete Oswald. Survivors include Ms. Annette’s children: two sons – Mr. John William McBride, Jr. of Paris, TX, and Mr. Russell Sterling McBride of Marianna, AR; one daughter Mrs. Robin McBride Hill and husband Mark of Moro, AR; one brother: Mr. Bennett Paul Wells of Conway, AR; three sisters: Ms. Sharron French of Hot Springs, AR, Ms. Chulita Hughes of Marianna, AR, and Ms. Vicki Holzhauer of Hot Springs, AR; three grandchildren: Matthew McBride and wife Amanda of Marianna, John McBride of Marianna and JonRaven Hill of Moro, AR; and two great-grandchlren: Spencer and Mason. Visitation with the family is scheduled for Friday, July 24, 2020 from 3:00 – 5:00pm at Heirloom Funeral Services Chapel located at 99 W. Main St. Marianna, AR. Burial will be private at Marianna Memorial Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers are: Joe Oswald, Bart Oswald, Steve Oswald, Dale Smith, Brian Smith, Jason French and Collin Holzhauer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made at Marianna Missionary Baptist Church, 9001 Hwy 1 S., P.O. Box 451, Marianna, AR 72360 Due to recent state mandates, face masks are required to attend visitation and social distancing will be exercised.
